Dana - I agree! In this situation, a &quot;dear&quot; greeting just added excess words to the message. 
I&#039;d be careful with &quot;Dear Friends and Colleagues&quot;, though. By including two groups, it might give the reader the impression they either belong to one or the other. And being a colleague doesn&#039;t sound as inviting as being a friend :)]]></description>
